East Chiltington

TECT News and diary dates

The East Chiltington Trust has been looking at the viability of creating a wildlife pond in the TECT field. The pond could be a much needed haven for wildlife, increase the biodiversity of the field and enrich the area for us humans too! We have been looking at initial designs but the most important step is to find out what you all think; is this an idea that you would support?

To that end, the Trustees would like to invite you to a consultation evening on Monday 30th October from 7.30pm at the Jolly Sportsman. TECT Trustee and South Downs National Park lead, Andy Gatticker will talk us through the many benefits that ponds bring to local environments, some design ideas for our field and the impact that this will have. If you can't make it, we are planning to send information out to every household in the parish so you will still be able give us your feedback. We really hope that as many people as possible will come and find out more.

Another date for your diary - we will hold our annual apple day and harvest supper on Saturday 14th October.

10.30-1.30pm: apple pressing in the Orchard - bring your own harvest and containers!

7.30pm til late: harvest supper food share on the Hollycroft field. We’ll put up the small parish marquee, light a fire and provide warming bowls of soup and jacket potatoes. Please bring other harvest delights and drink to share!
