Community use of the Church
The church and the churchyard are not the responsibility of the East Chiltington parish council and sadly East Chiltington church is in rather a poor state of repair.
The church is the only available community building in the parish. Results from a recent survey (2023) showed that many residents would like to see the church adapted for more community use. To enable this, there would need to be various structural improvements and adaptations, as well as improved parking.
Over the years, community use has included a range of different events, from film showings to live music events, including from internationally-acclaimed musicians, all of which have raised funds towards furthering these aims. The parish council is trying to reach an agreement with the church authorities that would enable residents to use the church for events and to secure its future within the parish.
